Canadian Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Festival, dubbed the world’s largest tulip festival, takes place in May in Ottawa, Canada’s capital. It began in 1953, with photographer Malak Karsh as a co-organizer. Princess Juliana of the Netherlands presented 100,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa as a gesture of gratitude for rescuing the exiled Dutch royal family during World War II. During the event, which also includes speeches, music performances, and gastronomy shows, large displays of Tulips are set up in Commissioners Park and along the Rideau Canal.
Genzano Infiorata Flower Festival
This flower festival, which takes place in June in the Italian town of Genzano di Roma, has a lengthy history, dating back to 1778. It is held in conjunction with the Corpus Christi feast, and over the course of three days, the town’s main street, Via Belardi, will be covered with beautiful flower carpets based on a theme picked by the locals. Hundreds of thousands of flowers, in a variety of styles, including religious motifs and artworks, cover the roadway. The procession to Santa Maria della Cima Church and the youngsters stomping the carpet at the festival’s conclusion are both enjoyable aspects of the celebration.
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
This event takes place every year in Skagit Valley, Washington, and lasts the full month of April. The event, which began in 1984, entails guided tours of the valley’s stunning tulip gardens and allows visitors to have a closer look at the region’s agriculture. It’s a celebration of spring and the natural world’s magnificence.
Batalla de Flores
This spectacular celebration takes place in Valencia, Spain, to commemorate the completion of the July Festival. It is held on the last Sunday of each month. The parade down the Paseo de la Alameda, which features magnificent floats and traditionally costumed young women, is a highlight of the celebration. The crowds throw flowers at the parade participants, and the ladies protect themselves with tennis rackets, adding to the fun.
Flower Carpet, Brussels
The Flower Carpet, as its name suggests, is primarily concerned with the development of precisely that; albeit with only a few hundred thousand Begonias. A carpet of Begonias covers the Grand Place in Brussels, with the design focusing on a specific theme. Hundreds of volunteers work tirelessly under the supervision of Tapis de Fleurs, a non-profit organisation. The first carpet was constructed in 1971, and since 1986, it has become a yearly event. It occurs every two years in August and lasts four days.
Festa da Flor, Madeira
The Madeira Flower Festivals, which take place every spring in the city of Funchal, are a one-of-a-kind event. Even while the quantity of flowers is the main attraction, the festival is also a musical, culinary, and artistic spectacle. During festival days, the parades that pass through the city are a sight to behold. It’s also an opportunity to learn more about Portuguese culture. Another noteworthy feature is the Wall of Wish, which is covered with lovely flowers by children to represent the hope for a peaceful world.

The Chiang Mai Festival, held the first weekend in February in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is one of the world’s most colourful events. The festival is recognised for its focus on the Damask Rose, a local rose type, although it also includes a variety of orchids, chrysanthemums, and other flowers. The festival’s highlight is the Flower Parade, which features floats, traditional dance, and music.
