Back in 2016, Caan, who played Buddy’s grumpy real-world dad, was in the midst of a bitter divorce with his wife since 1995, Linda Stokes. According to court filings, James earned $1 million in royalties in 2015. Out of that $1 million, around $140,000 came from “Elf” – which at that point was 13 years old.
